On June 11, 2020, Kazakhstani border guards prevented the smuggling of a large batch of cigarettes (about 400,000 packs) from Kyrgyzstan into Kazakhstan at “Karasu” automobile checkpoint in Zhambyl region.
The tobacco products were hidden under a load of chicken legs.
Permits and excise stamps on cigarettes were missing.
It should be noted that this is not the first attempt to illegally import goods from Kyrgyzstan.
The detained batch of cigarettes was transferred to the Department of State Revenues for Zhambyl region.
