September 18 this year while serving on the protection of the State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan along the coast of the northern part of the Caspian Sea, in the Amangeldy area of the Isatai district of the Atyrau region, two citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan were detained on a boat of the “Baida” and “Budarka” type.
When inspecting the boat, the border guard found 64 sturgeon fish prohibited for catch with a total weight of 245 kg.
Poaching gear and GPS navigators were also found, with the help of which offenders easily determined the locations of the fishing nets.
The poachers were promptly discovered by the frontier detachment, despite acting at night.
Through the efforts of the well-coordinated and skillful actions of the border squad of the Department of the Border Guard Service in the Atyrau region, damage to the state in the amount of more than 100 million tenge was prevented.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation is being carried out against the detained persons in accordance with the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The seized fish was transferred to the territorial bodies of internal affairs.
